[The Russian Snow Flower is said to bloom annually on January Ist]. The Russian Show Mower bursts in bloom The first day of the year, The silver star dispels the gloom Of winter's dark and dismal gloom ; Its fragrance, like some sweet perfume, Enriches far and near. What is it tells this brilliant flower, Deep buried in the snow, Resplendent with an unknown power Whilst wintry blasts and tempests lower — What tells it thus the day and hour ■ Its shining light to show ? —"Atlas."
