THE SCARE AT CYPRUS.

The alarm in Cyprus was due to the faot that the inhabitants feared that the withdrawal of the garrison was preliminary to handing baok the island to Tnrkey. It has, however, been officially explained that the change is merely dne to a temporary transfer of troops to Malta.
