FIRE AT JOHNSONVILLE.

The large boot factory and fellmongary at Johnspnville belonging to Messip. Chapman Bros, was totally destroyed by fife at about 1 o'olook this morning. The origin of the fire is unknown. Mr. J. Chapman and some of the Btaff left the premises apparently cafe about half-past 6 o'clock, and when the fire was first seen the flames had enveloped the whole huilding ; consequently the whole of the contents, comprising valuable machinery and stook, were destroyed. Ihe insurances amount to .£1260, and are held by the Royal Insuranoe Co., as follows :— Stock, £600; building. .£300 ; machinery, .£360. Mr. Albert Chapman, who carries on the fellmongery branoh of the business independent of his brother, is a heavy loser by the fire, his stook being entirely uninsured. The residence of Mr. Jabez Chapman, which is close to the faotory, was for some time in danger, but was saved from destruction by the exertions of a number oi residents in the district.
