The 13 a new steamer, having been launched in May last, and her dimensions are :— Length, 345 f t; breadth, 44ft ; depth, 29ft; tonnage, 2293 net She is classed 100 Al_ at Lloyds, on the spar-dook grade. The tri-oompound engines are by the NorthEastern Marine Engineering Company, and have cylinders 242, 40, and 66in, by 45in stroke At the trial trip, held on the 31st May last, a mean speed of 11} knots was obtained. The Aaloun was built in 1890, and ia somewhat smaller than the Aswanley, her length being 309 ft, and tonnage 1827 nett.
