THE SAPIO - URS O CONCERTS

« His Excellency the Governor and a large party were present during the greater part of last night's concert, which was quite equal in artistic merit to its predecessors. Madamo Sapio gavo a splendid performance of " I Know that My Kedoomor Liveth," and in answer to the recall added the fine " Credo " from David's opera of " Ercolanum." Later on she sang Ophelia's song from Ambraise Thomas' opera of " Hamlet, wi f h a repetition of Berber's " Only Thyself" ns the encore pieco ; and appeared with the fall instrumental strength of the company is another memorable rendering of tbo Gonnod-Baoh "Aye Maria." Madam* LTrso'a violin solos were Laub's Polonaise, Schumann's Sonata in D-minor, and Paganini's " Witches' Dance." Each was enthusiastically redomanded, and in complying with the encorea Madame played Ernst's Elegie and an espeoiallyldeligbtf v 1 pianissimo and unaccompanied performance of "The Laßt Hose of Summer." Messrs. Sohorek and Sapio again charmed the audience with their Saint-Saena' " Danse Macabre" piano dno, and with Wagner's "Plying Dutchman" ovorturo, both pieces being encored, while Herr s-oherek also played as solos Liszt's "Bossignol " and a Caprice of Widor, besides a Contre-danse by Beethoven when recalled. Singer and instrumentalists were alike in great form throughout tho evening. The first of the two farewell concerts of the extended season will bo given to-night, and should be heard by all people of musical taste who do not wish to lose the opportunity of hearing artists of the first rank.
