THE NEW SOUTH WALES ELECTIONS.

♦ MINISTERS LTKELT TO HAVE HARD FIGHTS. lONITED PREBB ASSOCIATION, j (Received July 11, 10.40 a.m.) Sydney, This Day. The approaching eleotions are now the allabsorbing topic, even to the detriment of business Thp absence of a provision compelling candidates to lodge depoßitsTas brought out a tremendous number of candidates, and with the one-man-one-vote and single electorates, the result is impossible to forecast. Though both the Froetrade and Protection Leagues are selecting candidates to represent the respective Parties there are still many strong men of both Parties opposing the Leagues' nominees, which tends to further complicate the result. The Premier will have a eevore battle for Tamworth, while there seemß every prospect of the Hon. F. B. i-uttor, Minister for Public Instruction, who is absent in Ottawa, losing the Bathurst seat. The split in the Labour Party has also brought out a number of independent candidates in opposition to that League's selection. A strong fight is expected between Mr. Reid, Leader of the Opposition, and a Labour candidate. The elections take place on Tuesday next.
