THESAPIO-URSO CONCERTS.

.» The attendance at the Opera House last evening, though it Bhowed very considerable improvement on the preceding evening, still fell far short of that to whioh a company of such exceptional excellence is entitled His Excellency and a party from Government House were present. To a musician it is unnecessary to say anything in commendation of such performances, but to those who imagine that because good music is given it is unmelodious, and form their conception of the best music from its worst performance by the average amateur, it is as well to say that hero they will find abundance of melody —popularly called "tune"—and that they will find, too, that the compositions bo admirably interpreted belong mainly to the romantic, and not to the severely classic, school. The audience last night was as entbusiastio as Usual, and with good reason. Madame Sapio sang the FaUst " Jewel Fong" (an encore number), the contrasting " With Verdure Clad" (Haydn), and a remarkably fine song by Signor Sapio, " Faith, the Pole Star," sung in response to the recall to the last number. It is a song destined to live. Then there was the splennid Baoh-Gounod " Aye, Maria," and the " Mad Scene from Lucia." Madame Urao had as hey chief items the Sonata in G (Opus 13), for violin and piano, of Rubinstein. Two movements were played—the Scherzo and Finale. The first is uninteresting, but the finale is a very fine movement, and was interpreted as only virtuosi can do it, Herr Soherek sharing in the suooess with the piano part. The recall was deolined. Tho beautiful Opus 27, Nocturne No. 2, of Chopin, as transcribed for the violin by Wilhefmj, was a veritable triumph. It was followed t>y an exquisite Chopin waltz. Madame also played a glorious "Faust" fantasia by Wieniawski, besides the violin part in the " Aye Maria" —in which Herr Soherek was at the harmonium and Signor Sapio at the piano, and whioh the audience wanted to have repeated. The weird, descriptive " Danse Macabre" of Saint baens received a very fine interpretation from Herr Soherek and bignpr Sapio at two pianoß, and amongst the other items were some melodious 80103 by Herr Soherek. Another fine programme iB announced for to-night.
