Tha poultry market is also overstocked, and following are correct values : — Fowls, 2s 6d ; ducks, 3s ; geese, ss ; turkeys, 5a to 5s 6d per pair. The market is glntted with fruit, and sales have never been more unsatisfactory, in faot the results in the majority of cases just about cover charges, and the shipper loses his fruit. Shipments are easing off, and we hope to report a more cheering prospect in our next. Messrs Edwards and M'Beath report wages for last week as follows: — Married couples, £70 to £90; carpenten, 10s; bricklayers, 12a; blacksmiths, 9s to 10s; painters and glaziers, 10s; plumbers and gnsfltterg, 9s to 10s ; storemen, 428 to 60s ; draymen, 42s to 50s ; coachmen, SOs to 355 ; g rooms, 25a to 355; gardeners, 6s to 8s; farm Lands, 15s to 255 ; milkmen, 85s to 275 ; hotelmen 20s to 40s ; barmaids, 25s to 30s : waitresses, 15s to 20a; cooks, 25s to 40s; female do, 25s to 35a; housemaids, 12s to 20s ; general servants, 10s to 14a ; nurscgirls and boys, 7s to 15s.
