SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTIONS.

The following particulars of last night's mootings of householders have reaohed na in addition to thoae reported on tho fourth page :— KAIWABHA. Fifteen householders were present, but as not one would consent to be nominated, thore waa no eleotion. KHANDALLAH. The following Committe was olooted : — Messrs. C. T. H. Brown, G. Clark, G. Hunt, J. H. Moadoworoft, G. Moore. W. J. Pcaroe, and S. &. Viokora. Mr. G. Clark waß eleoted C hairman for the ensuing 12 months, and Mr. Brown Seorotary. JOHNSON VI GLE. The following Committee was elected last night: — Messrs. George Wilson (Chairman, Seoretary, and Treasurer), A. Anderson, D. Braid, A. Cnnliffo, James Moore, John Sod, and F. Better. LOWER HUTT. The following Committee was elected for tho Lower Hutt:— Mnasrs W. Gongh, L. Payne, W. A. Fitzherbert, P. W. Caverhill, J. O'Sullivan, D. Speedy, and A. Peters. Messrs. A. W. Collett, F. Coopor, and F. Upton were the unsuccessful candidates. A satisfactory report and balance-sheet wore presented and adopted, and votes of thanks wore passed to tho outgoing Committee and Mr. Barry, tho head teaoher. Mr. W. A. Fitzhorbcrt was eleoted Chairman, and Mr. Payne Seoretary, of the new Committee. Mr. Fituherbert was chairman of the meeting. UPPER HUTT. At the meeting of householders of Upper Hutt, Mr. A. Martin ocoupied tho chair. The rep rt of the outgoing Committee stated that the sohoolground had been gravelled as far aa funds would allow ; the school had boon repaired and painted ; a new fence erected ; and new desks supplied. The Inspeotor's reports on the working of the school were highly satisfactory. Votes of thanks were passed to the outgoing Committee and to tho teachers. The following were then eleoted as the new Committee :—: — Messrs J Brown, C. Fitzpatriok. A. Hayward, J. Leddy, A. Martin, F. Paul, and C. Williams. At the first meeting of the now Committee, Mr. A. Martin was elooted Chairman, and Mr. A. Hay ward Secretary. KABORI. Mr ; J. M'Kenfcie presided at the meeting in thia district. The report and balancesheet showed a credit balance of .£26. The eleotion of the new Committee resulted in the rotnrn of Messrs. W. Monaghan, S. Lancaster, T. Campbell, R. Bulkley, C. Cathie, J. Evans, and G. H. Davies— the Chairman (Mr. M'Kenzie) deolining to be again nominated. After the Chairman had deolared the new Committee elected, Mr. Lancaster spoke of tho loaa tho district was sustaining by the retirement of Mr. M'Kenzie, who for a long term of yeari had been Chairman of their Committees, with the best results. Speaking as one who had been connected witb sohool matters from the very earliest times, he could safely say that tho Karori Sobool and its. surroundings owed moro to Mr. M'Kenzie than to any man living, and ho felt sure that this view would be endorsed by every resident in the district. He therefore proposed a sincere vote of thanks to Mr. Maokenzie for his past Bervioes. The motion was seconded by Mr. Bnlkloy, who endorsed all that the previous speaker had said, and was carried unanimously. Mr. Maokenzie, in acknowledging the compliment, thanked the householders for the confidence reposed in him by electing him continuously for the last 14 yfiara, and the Committees whioh had voted him to the ohair for the past 11 years without a break. Tho Buooess of the school to a great extent was dne to the accident of circumstances, and to tho fact that excellent Committees had invariably boen elocted, and also that the Committee had always stood woll with the Education Board. Although not on the Committee, he would only bo too glad to assist tllom as in tho past. A vote of thanks -was passed to the retiring Committee. At the meeting of the new Committee hold afterwards. Mr Lancaster was eleoted Chairman, and Mr. Evans Seoretary and Treasurer for the ensuing year. WHITEMAU'S VALLKT. The new Committee was elooted as follows:—James Chootham (Chairman), T. J. Devino (Seoretary), A. Gorrie, £. .Russell, and J. Swanson. PAHAUTANUI. Mr. I . Bradey, sen,, was in the ohair. The following were eleoted as the new Committee:— Mosars. J. Pearoo (Chairman), A. Bradey, C. Carter, F. Bradey, jnn. (Secretary and Treasurer), C. O'Connell, C. Bradey, and A. Nicol. WALLACEVILLE. Only four householders were present. The following were duly eleoted as the Committoo : — Messrs. R. Wliiteman, W. Burrell, J. Aloxander, and F. A. Clifford (Chairman, Treasuror, and Seorotary. WADISTOWN. There were five householders present. Mr. Hay was voted to the ohair. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the balanoe.sb.eet, expressed regret at the want of interest shown by the residents in school matters. The balance-sheet showed a oredit of J65 9s. During tho year tho attendance had so increased that it was found necessary to apply to the Education Board for an addition to the school, also a pupil toaohor. Ihe addition had been opened about a fortnight, and Miss Alice Cook had been recommended for the appointment as pupil teaoher. Extra outhouses were still required, and when these were built it was oxpeoted that all requirements would be met for some time to come. Five out of the seven Committeemen required were elected, as follows :— Messrs. P. S. Hay, J. Dormer, J. Valentine, A. W. Cook, W. G. Wilson. The Board will be asked to appoint two others. At the meeting of the new Committee Mr. P. 8. Hay was eleoted Chairman and Mr. A. W. Cook Hon. Seoretary. FABAPARAUMU. The following is the new Committee :— Messrs. W. Howell (Chairman), Davies (Secretary), Blaok (Treasurer), Tnrkington, Monk, Cornor, and Robinson. TE HOBO. Tho following Committee was eleoted :— Messrs. J. Gillies, D. Miokell, J. Waugh, E. H. Snow, A. Smith, and H. J. Riohards. The number required being seven, there is still one vaoanoy. The Committee afterwards met and eleoted Mr. Richards as Chairman. OTASI. The new Committee consists of the Rev. J. R. Clark (Chairman), Messrs. W. G. C.L. Lee (Secretary), F. Bills. T. Smith, W. N. Ward, H. Freeman, and J. Noble. POkIBUA. Seven householders were present. The balance-sheet showed a debit of £7 13s 3d, which the Committee accounted for by the little interest the people showed in concerts got up for school benefits. The election of the School Committee for Mastorton resulted in the return of Messrs. K. Feist (Chairman), W. Q Beard, T. Wagp, W. Pragnell, Wm. Eastbope, C. B. Daniell, Z. M. Hoar, W. Morris, and T. Dixon. The Chairman of the meeting held that a householder meant the owner, lessee, or tenant of a dwellinghouse within tho district. The Wairarapa Star challenges this decision to-day, and says that under clause 2 of the amended Act a householder must not only bo in possession of a dwellinghonse but must also be a parent or guardian, or in custody of a child attending the State nohool. Tho outgoing Committee was unanimously re-elected. Grettoww North. This Dat. Tho School Committee election resulted in tho return of Messrs. Peppflr, Izard. Shearer, fioydhouso, Trotraan, Keedwoll, Black, and Revs. Rowso and Grace. The Chairman gave his casting vote in favour of Mr. Black, who tied with Mr. A. Kowso. Paiiiatua, This Day.
