I'ho division was not taken till 11.45 p in., when the motion was lost by 20 votes to 19. Mr. J. H. Chapman, who had not voted, :as the question had been remitted from the' •committee to tho delegates, said ho thought Hho momhof b of the retiring committee were • wrong in Voting on the subject, and as tho i-mofcitm b»d been rejected by the Totos of tbn retiring committeo, he did not intend to ■offe)f himself for any offioo. tho other retiring officers expressed a dosiro to bo relieved from office, and a difficulty arose in oonaequence in appointing officers. After Mr. Chisholm had been appointed President, midnight arrived, and the meet* ng was adjourned for a week. fNTKBCAKGii.iI, 15th April.
