PHE PUBLIC LIBRARY BY-LAW, 1894. \TOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at a 131 Special Meeting of the Wellington 2ity Council held on Monday, the 9th day )f April, 1594, at 7.30 p.m., the following eeolution was passed : — Whereas the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Wellington (in the undermentioned proviuions referred to as " The Corporation ") have in pursuance of " The Publio Libraries Act. 1869," and "The Municipal Corporations Act, 188' i," established a Public Library known as "The Wellington Publio Library," the building whereof is situate at the corners of Victoria and Mercer streets in the said City. Now the Counoil of the City of Wellington doth hereby resolve (by way of speoial order) that the undermentioned provisions be, and the same hereby are, adopted and passed under and in pursuance of ''The Pnblie Libraries Act, 1869," and " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886," and every other power or authority in anywise enabling the said Counoil in that behalf as, and to form, By-laws, Rules, and Regulations, respecting the use and management of, .and otherwise with regard to the said Library. And further, that the said By-laws, Rules, and Regulations do coma into force on the Ist day of June 1894. A oony of the said By-law is deposited for publio inspection at the office of the City Counoil, Brandon-street, and the objeot and purport of the said By-law are shown below. The object and purport of the By-law is to provide for the proper management of the Library, and for the preservation of order within the building. Kules are laid down which are to be observed by all persons making use of tho Library, and penalties provided in all cases where breaches of the By-law are committed. Regulations are also provided for persona making use of the Lending Department, with form of agreement to be signed. Notice is hereby further givon that the said Resolution will be submitted for confirmation at the Ordinary Meeting of the Connoil, to be held at the City Council Chamber on Thursday, the 10th of May, 18U4, at 7.30 p.m. J.
