Chalmers, J.P., James Patterson, in charge of a pleasure resort at Diamond Harbour, Lyttelton, was fined the maximum penalty of .£5O, with costs and two witnesses' eipoiiGea, for selling liquor without a license On two other charges he was oonvicted and fined Is and costs. Thomas Henry ptrahan, an employe on ■ho steamer Orowaiti, was fined £5 Bs, treble the va'uo of tho goods, for dealing with 01b of un-Castomed tobacco.
