(UNITED PRKSB ASSOCIATION. I Christchcuck, 9th March. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce to-day, a committee was appointed to interview the local representatives of the New Zealand Shipping Company and the Shaw Savill and Albion Company, with reference to the providing of an effeotual means of extinguishing outbreaks of fire on oil vessels. At the Police Court to-day, B. C. Warnes, proprietor of an oyster saloon and restaurant, was fined £5 and costs for selling liquor without a license. Invercargill, This Day. Regarding the acoident to the racehorse May King, it appears that the insurance agent here did not wire to headquarters for instructions. The horse died on Thursday night, and the veterinary surgeon confirms the previous belief that its back was broken It was insured for JJIOO. The Dunedin manager of the insurance company says the local agent had full power to order the destruction of the animal.
