The Council of the Rifle Association, without going into tho merits of the case, disallowod the_ urotost against Wellington's win in the District Representative Match, as it had not been lodged within the prescribed time, 12 hours. The presentation of tho prizes won at tLo meeting took place this afternoon. Mrs. Somorvilla distributed them. About 100 of the 163 prize - takers were present. Captain Smith, the Champion, received an ovation on stepping up for the licit, and tho others who were close up wore also well received. Major Somorville thanked the Mayor and citizens for the welcome extended to tho members of the Association. Mr. Gapes, tho Mayor, congratulated tho Association on the suocess it bad attained, whioh ho attributed to the energy of Major Somerville, who, he Baid, had dono the work of a dozen men. The x proceedings wore brought to a oloso with threo cheers for Mrs. Somerville, Rud a similar oompliment to Major Somerville. Lanoo-Corporal Jenkins, of tbo Wellington City Eifles, was second scorer in tho Markers' Match yesterday, and won a prize of^2. ,
