:Bt Telegraph, i ( Out Own Correspondent. ) Dunedin, This Dat. Mr. E. C. Bruce has been very much impressed by the heartiness of his reception in Otago. On leaving to day for the North be was convoyed to the railway station by a delegation from tho Burns, Gaelio, and Caledonian Societies, who thanked him heartily for coming such a long way to do hononr to tho national poet, and assured him ho was hold in the kindest remembrance by all olasses of Scotchmen. Mr. Bruoe had pressing requests to speak at Palmerston, Oatnaru, and Tiraa.ru, but as his presenqe is required at homo he re--luotantly deolined. Ho hopes to visit Otago later in the year, and if the country people dosire to hear him ho will be most happy to address them then.
