The Official Assignee ha.3 accepted the tender of Messrs. Johnston — Co., of Napier, for the remainder of the book debts in the estate of Mary Ann M'Lean, of Wellington, the amount being £l 10s. London Truth, of 28th September, contains the following paragraph. It will probably be news to people in this colony to learn that such a company as that named exists : — " A copy of a oircular which has apparently been issued broadcast by the United- Foreign Stamp Company, of Omara, New Zealand, has been sent to me. The first sentence of this oircular reads as foDows : — ' Sir —We should be pleased to receive from you large or Bmall quantities of your country's postage stamps— used or unused.' I have said quite enough, I think, to show that the United Foreign Stamp Company, of Omaru, has adopted a most questionable method of promoting its business."
