The Chamber of Commerce, the tea merchants of the city, and country Exchanges, strongly protest against tho taxation proposals of the Government, and have appointed a deputation to wait on the Colonial Treasurer. Bbisbani, This Dat. The Budget showa that the revenue has fallen short of the estimate by X 222.000, which is attributed chiefly to the decrease in taxation. The deficiency now stauds at .£1,566,800, but the greater part of this is covered by Treasury bills. The estimated revenue of the coming year is .£3,370,50<J, and the expenditure £3,378,690.
