Tho general opinion is that China is disposed to help Siam. London, 20th July. Viscount Curzon, in a letter to Tho Times, states that if France olaims the entire lefl bank of the Mekong it will deprive Sian of half of her territory, and be the means oi placing the French in Upper Mekong ir juxtaposition with the Britain-protected Shan States. Tho Times insists that France cannot thus be allowed to close the door to British trade in South-western China. (R«oeived July 21, 11.15 a.m.) London, 20th July. Sir Edward Grey, Undor-Seoreiary foi Foreign Afiairs, in reply to a question in the House of Commons, said he had not bepn informed as to th 9 French ultimatum in regard to Siam.
