An Ex- Magistrate's Bankruptcy.
IBt Telecibape. i iONI^KO PRIBS ASSOCIATION. 1 Chbistchuboii. Gth June. In tho Bankruptcy Court to-day George A. Preeoe, formerly a Resident Magistrate, applied for bis discharge. Tha Official Assignee's report roforied to certain irregular dealings with regard to trust moneys belonging to Uawkos Bay natives. Mr. Stringer pointed out that granting tho discharge would not free tho bankrupt from liability in respect of these transactions. His Honour remarked that the granting of a discharge waa an indication as to the conduct of the bankrupt which the Conrt conld expresß in this case. Mr. Linskoy, a creditor, opposed the application. His Honour expressed strong disapproval of tho conduct of the bankrupt as a .Resident Magistrate, his borrowing of money from an officer of his Court, and also his misapplication of the tiust funds of tho natives. The order of discharge was refused.
