THE ANARCHIST CREED.

A curious document «vas lately found in the pockets of certain Spanish Anarchists. It may be described as the Anarchists' Ten Commandments. Its precepts are as follows: — 1. The Anarchical comrade must, above all things, hold his life as nothing worth. 2. He knows no other fatherland than the Social Revolution, and no other enemy than capital and the classes in possession. 3. Anarchists recognise no other justice than the Court of Honour, chosen from their midst, against the commands of which there is no appeal. 4. Anarchists are sacrosanct against each other ; all of them must be ready at any time to risk their lives to defend a comrade. 5. The first duty of an Anarchist is the Social Revolution. 6. He must keep aloof from all revolutionary movements which are not directed against capital. 7. An Anarchist can plead no excuse for declining a service which falls to him by lot ; illness is the only excuse for him. 8. No Anarchist may fill a public office without permission from the council. 9. All Anarchists must be acquainted with each other ; they must have no political secrets from each other, but must spy out the secrets of all other associations. 4Fhe greatest service an Anarchist can render to the good cause is the denunciation of comrades who cultivate relations with the authorities. 10. Anarchists declare themselves for the Revolution with all its consequences, and have to dedicate thereto all their energy, intelligence, and perseverance.

Lieutenant McCabo's punitive expedition to the Lushai country returned to Lalbura on May 2, having inflicted severe punishment on the rebellious tribesmen. One of the most interesting facts brought out by the recent Census in the Madras. Presidency shows that the curious hill tribes, the Todas of the Nilghiris, are not dying out, as it is generally supposed. They now number nearly 1,000, having increased 10 pev cent, since the previous Census. The hideous abominations known as temperance drinks have come late, but sufficiently, to prove the grand and simple rule thut man is not contented with milk and water — he must brew. He is a brewing ani nal, be the result of his brewing Chateau Latour or Zoedone, Archdeacon or Hopettu. A little girl in England only ten years of age, has re-written the book of Euclid, supplied it with new examples, and proved all her propositions. The book has caused great surprise in learned societies. This little mathematician is a daughter of Professor Hudson. y-~ A Bill to amend the law of divorce introduced into the House of Commons provides amongst other things that a marriage may be dissolved on the ground of desertion, without reasonable excuse, for four years and upwards, by either husband or wife.
