OAKARU, 24th November. A man named Hughes was brought before the Magistrate's Court to-day, charged with the larceny of a quantity of brandy from tho hotel which was burnt down. He was remanded till Friday. InveecaeoiliL, This Dat. The Postmaster-General left for tho North to-day. Dunedin. This Dat. Tho Hon. Mr. Seddon this morning met a. deputation of commercial mon, and explained the intentions and desires of tho Government concerning the representation of New Zealand at the Chicago Exhibition. It was rosolvcd " that in tho opinion of this mooting it would be of great benefit to tho colony that its natural produce especially should he represented at tho Chioago World's Fair." The matter now stands remitted bade to the Chamber of Commerce to consult other bodies.
