Wellington Agricultural and Pastoral Association.

The Committee of the Wellington Agricultural and Pastoral Association held a meeting in the New Zealand Loan aud Mercantile Agency Company's building at noon to-day, Dr. Newman, M.H.8., in the chair. Apropos of an enquiry as to whether the prize for exhibits of fleeces would be awarded according to value per lb or on tho basis of the value of the whole fleece, it was decidod that tho prizo should go to the floeces which as a wholo would bring the highest price in the market. I Mr. W. A. Fitzherbort announced that tho Wellington Woollen Company had decided to present £5 worth of their manufactures as a prize for the best fleoces. A voto of thanks was awarded to the company for its liberality. A donation of throe guineas from the Union Bank of Australia was also announced. Messrs. G. Huntor, Monoy, and Winter wore appointed judges of the jumping competitions. The memorandum of finances showed that the total incomo and assots ainco Ist August had amounted to £519, and that af tor providing for all expenditure there was a balance of £198 19a 3d. The Chairman said it was evident that if there was a fine day for tho show, and dne economy iraa observed, tho socioty would be very easy in its finances. Messrs. C. Pliarazyn, jun., and R. Wilberfoss woro elected members of the committee. The question of advertising was romitted to the Executive Committee, with instructions not to oxcocd £50 from this date. At 1 o'clock the committee adjourned for lunoh. Tho Committee resumed at 2 o'clock. The question of obtaining pens for the poultry exhibits was loft in the hands of the Executive. The opinion was expressed that the penß belonging to tho Wellington Poultry Association would be available at a nominal rental. Mr. Scales suggested that a shed should be erected for exhibiting flax. The suggestion was adopted, tho coat not to exceed £25. Mosßrs. Cuningham, Badham & Co. wore appointed auctioneers for the stile of privilegos if the Executive decided that the latter Bhouldbo sold. It was resolved to award a certificate for the best apparatus for destroying the codlin moth. The question of entertaining the judges, &c. at the show was discussed, and it was i resolved to leavo the matter in the hands of I tho Executive. The next meeting of the Committee was fixed for this day fortnight, the 29th. The Chairman expressed a hopo that members of the Committee would canvass for exhibits. When he was at Hawko's Bay last week he induced several prominent breeders to promise to send exhibits to the Wellington show. The meeting then went into committee.
