HUNTING AT OPAKI.

A very successful hunt in connection with tho Wairarapa Hunt Club was held at Masterton on Saturday, when fully 500 Hpectators were present, and 50 sportsmen followed the hounds, which throw off in Mr. Macara's farm at Opaki. The eouroo was 3J miles in length, and there were about 20 jumps, inclnding a water jump. A grand display of horsemanship was made, and overy hurdle wa« negotiated with tho greatest ease. Only two rulers wore unhorsed, but neither were seriously hurt. A collision occurred betweon After Dark (ono of tho hunters) and a horse of ono of tho spectators, resulting in such injuries that both had to bo destroyed. A meeting of tlioso interested in hunting was hold at tho Club Hotef in tho evening, when it was decided that the huntsmen of Masterton unite in supporting the Wairarapa Hunt Club as at present constituted, and an executive committee was appointed. Tho hounds have proceeded to Kaiwaiwai, whoro a hunt is being held to-day.
