The indictable charges preferred by Chribtian Carlson against Augiißtus Johnston of wounding with intent woro dismissed yesterday, but Johnston was fined SSL and -£3 costs for atttanlt. Walter Tricker has been committed for trial for obtaining a horse under false pretences. The public school at Pahiatua has beon closed, owing to tbe prevalence of typhoid fever. Waltor Tricker, for larceny as a bailee of a saddle and bridle, was also this morning sentenced to six wpeka' hard labour. William Gumming was sentenced to a fortnight's hard labour for larceny of two shirts. Caeterton, This Day. Tho long spell of frosty weather has kept J the Wairarapa rivers very low, and tins has enabled the curator of tho Acclimatisation Society's fish ponds to collect an extraordinary quantity of trout ova, which ho has removed to tho hatcher}'.
