LICENSING ELECTIONS.
♦ An elootion was held at Uppor Hutt yesterday for tho purpose of elooting a now Oommittoo for the Alungaroa Licensing Distriot. There wcro 10 candidates, and the ballot resulted in tho rot urn of Messrs. J. Barton, J. ISonifo, G. Brown, J. Thomson, and H. E. Rawson. Tho unauocosuful candidates wore Mossrs. li. Butler, T. F. Boyd, P. Davis, F. Paul, and J. Small. Mr. H. Damant was the fleturning Offioor. Tho I first mooting of tho committee is fixed for Wodnosday next at tho schoolroom, Uppor Hutt. [By Teleorai'ii. The licensing oleotion contest yestorday resulted in the return of tho previous oommittoo and in favour of an incroiso of all lioonsos, by large majorities.
