GOLDFIELDS' ASSESSMENT.
[Bx Telegbafh.J [united fbebs association.] Gretmotjth, This Dat. The Assessment Court sat yesterday to hear objections against valuations of the mining property under tho Gold Duty Abolition Apt. All of the beaoh dredging leases valuations were objected to. It appeared that tho Valuer assessed that description of mining property all round at £10 per aore. Evidenoa was given that if submitted to auction the property would realise nothing like the present rental of £1 per aore. eventually the assessment value was reduoed from £10 to £1 per aore. Livingstone and party are prospeoting a olaim in virgin ground on Arnold's Mat. Thoy have gone a hundred feet deep, wet, and no gold, and were assessed at £900. Thoy had their valuation reduoed to .4515. The party paid £43 rent to Grovefnnient before oommenoing to prospect, though the Warden recommended that power be given 1 to rent free in the first year.
