THE MARLBOROUGH GOLDFIELDS.
[Bt Telegraph. I fUNITID PRESBAB6OCIATION.] Blknhbim. This Dat. The legal manager of the Wakamarina Gorge Claim reports that all hands are at work at the inner head dam, which is now near to completion. 'J he importance of this work quite justifies stoppage of stripping, as there are indications of the ontor dam showing weakness from the frequent battering of trees coming down in flood time. Two and a half ounces were brought down on Sunday as the resnlt of a five days' stripping previons to putting all hands to work at the dam. Top stripping, to the extent of 17ft, leaving a bottom of waehdirt underfoot, is complete beyond Gome's old dam, and the entrance of the Gorge, and another 10ft should strike the bottom. It is thought by many practical miners that this Bpot will be very rioh.
