THE DRUIDS' SPORT .

Ia concluding our report of yesterday's, sports, which were carried out under the aui.-erintendenee of the United Ancient Order of Druids we must, congratulate the Order upon tho thorough sneoess of the affair. The sport was really excellent, thankß to the careful handicapping of Mr. T L. Barker, the capital starts effected by M.\ B R Ga-dner, and the genorßl good management of the Committee and olbor officers. Ab a matter of fact, rare'y havo better contested events thin those of yesterday been soon at any gathering of the kiud hold upon the KeEerve. The honours of tho day in prize money were ea riod off by It Jarrott, of Waiiganni, who secured two firsts and a third in the Easter Handioap events, thus making 13 points, and so won the aggregate prize of offered by the Order. T. De L^noy and S H. Coward came next for the prize, with j six points each The Evening Post trophy— a handsome silver cup, of the value of .£5 53, which was awarded to the Druids' Handicap, of three events— waß won by B R. Gardener, of the Fxoelsior Lodgp, Wellington, with a total of 12 points. B. P. Li3tor came next with Beven points, and takes the Union Clothing Company's prize ; 8 Thacker third, with six points, and R. Jarrett fourth, with three pom's. Both of the latter also take prizes. A protest was entered agiinst Jarrett's victory by \V. R. Mackay, on the ground that he d : d not fu nish the committee with a correct record of bis previous performances, and it will be considered by tho committee o-i Wedi esday next, when the prizes are to be distributed. A fter the 15 competitors left the starter's hands Goorge and Whiteman were the first to show prominently to tho front, and led for tha first lime round. At tho half mile Moreton was leading, with Woon and Mihoney in close aitondanoe. Mahoney went up with a sudden spurt in the last round, but was almost immediately replaced by A'oon, who raoed home a winner by a trifle over a yard. Galloway, who took second plaoe, came up wonderfully quick in the last half lap, and if ho had challenged tbo leaders a little sooner must have won. De Laney, who was running well, was pnt entirely out of the race at the homa turn by an injury to hie foot, which was trod upon by one of tho other competitors. The race was a gift to Jarrett, who took the lead after the first lap, and romped home. A good contact took place for second honours.
