Elder has returned to the colony, having been reluotantly compelled to come to the conolueion that it ia impossible to oarry out an Antarctic expedition at present. The prinoipal difficulty ia in raising the amount required, .£IOO,OOO. Thuesday Island, This Day. An ancient Spaniah wreck has been found on Barrier Reef, and golden dollars to the value of £300 havo been recovered. They are dated 1801.
