AN OLD SALT'S ADVICE.

TO THI KDITOB. Sib— Would you allow me a small space to grre the boob of old Neptune some good advice. lam an old blue jackot of 61 yearß' service. I joined the British Navy in 182 D. and stuck to the brave old flag till 1842. I have been in the merchanS service since that. In every vessel of the latter service I always found one foreoastle lawyer, always ready to lead good men astray, and I can see at the preeent time they have got a very bad pilot on board, that is drifting the ship on to a dangerous reef. I should have thought there would be one ont of all the offiaers that would go »ft, tiko the helm, and steer that noble old ship to a safe harbour and anchorage. Join your vessola again like men, and show to the world you are worthy of the name of British Bailors. In my time it was bad pay, bad tnoker, and plenty of work. Now it is good pay and good tucker, and I consider every trip you go, it is only pleasure, and you are well paid for it. See the money these agitators are getting outofallon strike. You were advised to give 24 hours' notice. Take an old salt's advioe, and give that pilot one hour, and if he is not gone in that time pitch him to Davie Jones' locker, and all go and join your vessels like British sailors. All good-meining men that read this I hope will not think it is some of the shipowners put this in. lam an old man that is working on a station, and if my boss could not gat his wool shipped I would mako one and como and help to ship it. The way that these agitators want things, the shipowners are not boas of their own oraft3. I ask any right-minded man among you how wonld yon like to be treated the same if you were the owner. I am, Ac., An Old Salt.
