NEGOTIATIONS IN THE POST AND MILITARY DIFFICULTIES.

EMEUTE AT THE POST OFFICE. [BPKOII.Ii.] (Received July 9, noon.) London, Bth July. Mr. E. Stanhope, Secretary of State for War, is very evasive on the subject of the reported mutiny of the Grenadiers. (Receded July 9, 12.15 p.m.) London, Bth July. The postmen will not strike provided blacklegs are not employed. The Trades and Labour Council will in the meantime negotiate with Mr. Cecil Raikea, and endeavour to persuade him to reoognise the right of the men to hold meetings. The Council will also ask that the men who have been dismissed be reinstated, that the rate of wages be fixed, and that the men be allowed to form a Dnion. It is asserted that the Grenadiers mistook the hour for parade, and that it was not their intention to mutiny. The Duke of Cambridge and Lord Wolseley conferred with Colonel Maitknd, but the result of their deliberations was not made known. (Received July 9, 12.30 p.m.) London. Bth July. Considerable exoitement was caused at tho Post Office by the sorters belonging to tho Union expelling 30 blacklegs. CARPENTERS AND JOINERS. A well attended meeting of the Carpenters' and Joiners' Union was held in the Foresters' Hall, Tory-street, last night, when several new members were elected. The President, Mr. Mudge, oooupied the chair. It was unanimously decided to affiliate with the 'Federated Trades Council as early as oonvenient; it was also resolved to invite two delegates from the Council to attend the next general meeting. A deputation was appointed, consisting of Messrs. G. Smith and A. Hirbottle, to wait on the employers to discuss the rules, &o. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the ohair.
