The Volunteers.
♦ The Wellington Rifles reoruits are reminded of their claßß-firing on Friday morning. Ammunition from Sergeant Brown to-night. There will be a parade on Friday night if Saturday's inspection does not come off. Members will see by oompany orders in the Evening Post which iB going to take plaoe. A parade of the Petone Navals was held in their own Drillshed last evening, when torpedo work was engaged in. The muster was 35, and the officers present were Lieut. - Commander Davy and Sub-Lieutenant Kirk. As Major-General Edwards' inspection is not likely to take place next Saturday a match has been arranged between the port and starboard divisions. The D Battery paraded in the Garrison Hall last evening, the muster being about 40. Captain Moorhonse and Lieutenant Williams were present. Major M'Credie was also on parade, and the men were put through drill in view of Major-General Edwards' inspection. Major-General Edwards is not expected to leave Auokland for Wellington until Tuesday next, and it is probable that the parade of our volunteers called for Saturday next will have to be deferred.
