THE TE ARO RAILWAY EXTENSION.

RECOMMENDED BY THE COMMISSIONERS. We are pleased to be in a position to state that tho Railway Commissioners have reported to tho Government, recommending the extension of tho Government line of railway to the foot of Tory-street, Te Aro, and the erection of a station there. The intended route, after leaving the present station, will, as nearly as possible, follow that now taken by the contractors' temporary line, but after crossing tho foot of tho Queen's Wharf it will go somewhat closer to the Queen's Chambers, and thence along tho centre of Jorvois-stroet to tho terminus. Probably at first provision will only be made for passenger traffic, but no doubt goods traffic will soon bo arranged for. It now /rests with the Government to invite the House to vote tho funds required to provido for this most necessary and desirable work.
