TO CORRESPONDENTS.
" SunscniDKß," Greytown North, nsks us several qucbtious relating to balls. Wo shall reply to the best of our ability. (1) In waltziufr it is uot considered "good form "to " reverse." A Pall Mall Gazette interviewer of Mr. George Grossmith (who is an authority), in February last, writes that Mr. Grossmith denounces reversing: with scathing vigour, aud says :— " No ' smart ' dancer ever thinks of reversing , except in the polka. It is loft to the Kensington Gores nud Bayswater Browns." To the question why roversing was considered " bad form," Mr. Grossmith replied : " Well, I cannot give you the renton. It is bad form, because it is." (2) Where a " set " lias been made up for a square dance, a. polite hint to that effect to the Kcntlenian showing: a desire to take tlic place of a couple not quite up to time in taking their place should snftico to prevent his miiiiitaiuftif? tho position. (3) A " ball " is " a social assembly for the purpose of dancing." A " soiree "is " an evening party" at which dancing is not necessarily one of the forms of ontertninment. A Mac C— The ameudmeut having boon negatived, the original resolution should havo been put. It is absurd to contend that tho original resolution can have been negatived by the rojectiou of an amendment upon it. "Jack Plank "—Your letter cannot be inserted, as it imputes improper motives to pirties mentioned.
