Intercolonial Chess Tournament

At 9 meeting; of the Committee of tho Intercolonial Chess Tournament, to bo held during the Exhibition, a circular to be for* warded to chess players and chess clubs in New Zealand and other colonies, inviting cooperation, was approved. It is proposed to raise money to be awarded as prizeß, of which three will probably be given, and a member of the committee started the fund by snbscribingr £5. It has been decided to avoid conceding the honour so frequently claimed of champion of the colonies, the principal prize-taker being entitled only to the championship of the tournament. An attempt will also be made for ladies to enter, in which event a prize will be set apart for them.
