The Otago Harbour Board.

[Bt Tblkobaph.] IdNITBD PBESB ASSOCIATION. J Dunedin, 21st January. At the statutory meeting of the Harbour Board a discussion took place regarding the statements in the London Economist from a Wellington correspondent. The statement started off by saying that it was rumoured that the Otago Board might not be able to meet its interest in January, after which came the fulsome belauding of the Wellington harbour and its supposed advantages. It was pointed out that before the article appeared in print a draft for the interest was on its way to London. The accounts showed there was not the slightest foundation for the statement, and it waa remarked that, however damaging such absurd statements might be toward the debentures and the colony, those who formed them should remember it was the debenture-holders who were prejudiced, and the loss from the depreciation fell, not on the Board, but upon those who owned the debentures It was resolved to communicate with the Economist on the subject.
