HOTELS AND DRUNKENNESS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— Can nothing be done to prevent hotelkeepers from Berving men till they become thoroughly intoxicated, as was the case with a man I know yesterday. He got drunk in an hotel not far from the middle of the city_, and was proceeding to join his ship (which sailed without him) when he fell over the Eailway Wharf. Luckily there happened to be two gentlemen in the vicinity who pulled him out ; had they not been about, the result might have been serious. Trusting the police authorities will keep their eyes on hotels where such excesses are encouraged. lam, &c, Disgusted. Wellington, 21st January.
