Sporting. TOMORROW'S RACES AT ISLAND BAY.
The meeting whioh is to be held at Island Bay to-morrow under the auspices of the Island Bay Racing Club, as a farewell benefit to Mr. George Donne, their secretary, should bo well patronised by the publio, as the sport is likely to be good, and the objeot is one which ierd«serving of publio sympathy. A capital programme haß been prepared, find the acceptances whioh are appendod give promiso of fair fioldft. The first race will start at 1 o'olook. His Excellency tho Governor has promised to be present if possiblo. Cobb and Co.'s busses will convoy visitors to the course at a tariff of one shilling per head. The handicaps for this meeting were declared on Saturday night, and the following acceptances were doolared at 2 o'clock to-day : — Flying Handicap; three-quarters of a mile. —Man Friday, 7st 41b j Cupid, 7st 21b; Fabrication, 6st 111b ; Sylph, 6st 71b. Hurdles; a mile and three-quarters. — Kangaroo, list 71b 5 Clyde, lOst ; Reputation, Dat. Complimentary Handicap, a mile and three furlongs.— Lenore, 7st 111b ; Bronte, 7stßlb[ Spy, 7st 41b ; Cupid, 6st 131b ; Othello, Bst 91b ; Fabrication, 6st 91b ; Smooth, 6st 71b. The following race was inadvertently omitted in the report of the Dnnedin J.C. Spring Meeting supplied by the Press Association, whioh appears on our fourth page to-day :— Tahuna Park Welter Handicap, 90 soys ; Beven furlongs.— C. TnrnbuU's Wolverine, 9st 121b, 1 ; F. Oudaille's Mon Loup, 9st 21b, 2 ; J. Poole's Evening Star, Bat, 3. Four others starred. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time, lmin 35sec. Dividends, £2 16b 6d and _3 sa.
