Bilbrongb, Manager for New Zealand, invited an assemblage of leading citizens to cake and wine in the offioo, whioh was handsomely furnished. Mr. Bilbronsh rave a sketch of the operations of the firm sinoe its foundation, And detailed the step? for founding a New Zealand agenoy. They had nob yet persuaded the New Zealand Government to grant a commission on the local traffic, but ' he said the firm's operations wonld un- ' donbtedly lead to greMj increased trjifio on the Government railways. " Success to Cook and Sons' venture," propoted by Mr. Q. P. Pieice, manager of the New Zealand ; Insurance Compiny, wiw responded to by ' Mr. Akin Hi<rgins, general manager of , Australasia. ■
