The following report of the Public) Works Committee will be presonted at the Meeting to-morrow evening :— The Committee be? to recommend — 1. That a 6in water-main be laid along Waterloo-quay, from tho Railway Wha*f northward, for a distance of jabout 7 chains. 2. That the footpath on the northern side of Buckle scr^ot be laid down in asphalte for half its width. 5. That the proposal to lay a drain in Co nstablestxe.et (from Daniel - street to Bi Idifordstreet), he not entertained at jresent. 4. That a roply be sent to the Petone Borough Conned and £ho Kaiwarm Town Board, that the Council is unable to eater into an arrangement for supplyiD j those J bodies with water until the electi io light | installation has been completed, and the quantity of water required for light ing purposes definitely ascertained. 5. That the Invercairgijl Borough Council be ii formed, in reply to their piroular, that this Council is not disposed ' to pnrohas* th< i steam fire engine, which they offer fie sale. That consideration of the Mayor'ii memo* random with reference to the propo ted loan for drainage and other purposes t>e postponed till next meeting of this Cot imittee. 6. That consent be given to the r ghts-of-way 3£ft wide over a portion of see ion 485, Lambton-quay, as applied for by Messrs. Buckley, Stafford, and Treadnell |E. W. Mills & Co. to Willeston). 7. That with reference to clause 3 of this oommitte's last report the net stand for expresses be fixed at Hunter -streeet extension instead of at Panama ■ street. 8. That a stand for baokney onriageß be established on the western tide of L itnbtonquay, between Bowen-streec and Cparlotte-str-et. 9. That the Inspeotor of Police be asked to take steps to enforce the provisions of the Police Offences Act, 1881, relating to the regulation of vehicular traffic! in the Btreots of the city. JO. That the <?l*im of the Colonial Mutual life Assurance Society, for payment of costs of repairs to a drain on Lambton-quay, be not entertained. 11. That the request of Mr. F. Stevens for payment of the cost of laying a drain across the road at Oriental Bay, be not acceded to, there being a dram in Say-street with wbiih Mr. Stevens' drain o6nld have been coitneoted. 12. That ft quantity of dog collars be supplied to the Government for the Chatham Islands as requested. 13- That a committee, consisting of Councillors Seed, Muir, Willeston, and Williajns be appointed to oonfer with a committee of the Harbour Board with reference to the preparation of specifications, Ac, for the the proposed new olook for the general Post Office. 14. That accounts amoufltinff to J5103 17s 6d be passed for payment.
