Accidents and Fatalities.
fßy Tklkgbafh. I [united press association. I Cheistchurch, 29th October. An Austrian stevedore named Charles de Micheli was found lying unconscious in the hold of the Arawa at 11.30 a.m. to-day. He had been sent to put some sheep into the reserve chamber oi the ship, and had evidently slipped down, falling 20ft. His skull was fractured, and he died during the afternoon. He leaves a wife and three children. t Later. At the inquest on the rrikn killed on the Arawa to-day, a verdict of Accidental Death was returned, with a rider balling attention to the need of lifelines around or netting over the hatches in the 'tween decks when men are working thero. The evidence showed that the deceased probably fell down tho hatchway through not seeing it in the dim light. ' Dunedin, 29th October. At the inquest on William M'Laughlin, who hung himself, the evidence went to show that he had worried greatly abont some bad speculation he had mode. A verdict of Suicide while Temporarily Insane was returned.
