A BOLL AT LARGE.

A fine pollod Angus bull that was about to be shipped to Melbourne by Mossrs. Mnrray, Roberts A Co. broke looie while boing taken to the wharf, and caused some oxoitement in Princes-street, and rspeoially in the Ootogon. Here the animal entered the furniture establishment of Metsrs. Hooper A Co. An eye-witness of what followed wtites: — "As may be supposed, a large orowd soon collected to see' the ' fun.' It was intended as the animal came out of the shop to lasso him at the door, for whioh pnrpose a large rope had been obtained. After waiting tome ten minutes for his oviotion from the shop, the orowd saw two or three persons rushing pell moll out of the shop as a kind of advance guard to the boll, for the animal was only a tow fret in the rear. But alas for the lasso! As Boon as the man in charge of this arrangement discovered that the bull wai rcUly coming, he suddenly discovered that there was something down tho street whioh required his immediate attention, and he inBtantly made for that point. The bull came with a rush, and tho orowd, old and youn?, big and little, soon showed a olean pair of hock. In fact, some people who have probably not done a qniokstep for many years were observed to be inspired with an ambition to do a fast half-mile. Toe first objeot to attraot the bull's attention was a perambulator, whioh it Bont fljin? some yards. As fortune would havo it, the maohine contained only a bag of bones, and not a baby. From the perambulator tho bull continued his course amongst the crowd, whose netber resrions seemed to possess a peculiar affinity for the bull's head, but as he was of the hornless olass he did very little harm. As the people made a clearance, he turned his attention to a horse and spring oart, and getting his head well under the horse, he lifted it to an angle of abont 75deg. It was amusing at this stage to witness the tendenoy displayed by many who have not boon suspeotcd of a leaning to athletics to perform some really extraordinary gymnastio exeroiscs. Ono lamp-post wai soleoted by no less than three individuals as a convenient place on whioh to display their olimbing proolivities. One of tho threo succeeded in olimbing the post, but the laws of gravitation were too muoh for the other two, although they were apparently oblivious of tho fact. They olunj desperately to the post, evidently under the impression that they were yards from the ground, although if they hod chpeon to stretoh their legs they could have touched it. Tho police also made wonderfully suecessfnl efforts at dodging the bull. Ultimately the animal was secured and led off in triumph, the only damage recorded being a few rent garments, due not to the efforts of the bull but to the frantio efforts of the owners to reach a place of safety.
