DISSATISFACTION WITH THE REMINGTON-LEE RIFLE. AGITATION IN FAVOUR OF THE MARTINI-HENRY. [By Telegraph.] [united press association.] ¦ Auckland, 30th Deoember. At a meeting of Auokland members of the New Zealand Rifle Association held at the Diillahed to-nieht, it was unanimously resolved that in tie opinion of this meeting the Remington-Lee rifle is a dangerous and useless weapon, and it waa decided to ask the Council of the Association to prooure Martini-Henry's for use at the next meeting of the Rifle Association, to be held at Oamaru. Great dissatisfaction is expressed amongst Volunteers Vith the RemingtonLee rifle, which, at the meeting of the Auckland Rifle Association on Monday and Tuesday, was found to be inferior to the Martini.Henry and Snider, the lowest scores in a match in which these weapons only were used being made with the Remington. Two accidents also occurred at this meeting through the use of the new Government gun, and whilst the weapon was being fired in one instance part of the stock was blown away. It is probable that if the Council of the New Zealand Rifle Association finally decide that the Remington-Lee rifle shall be used at the Oamaru meeting the majority ot the Auckland members will not attend.
