The Volunteers.
* Mr. Edwin Davy is gaxetted a lieutenant in the Petone Naval Artillery. The following are the names of tho team selected to represent the City Rifles in a match against the Greytown Bifles on Tuesday next : — Captain Cojlins. Col. -Sergt. Davis, Sergts. Burton and Madeley, Cor. Jackson, Privates Guise, Cato, Luke, Harris, and M'Gregor. Emergencies — A. Moore and Sorgt. Roberta. A meeting of the Shooting Committee of the City Rifles will be held this evening, at the Volunteer Drillshed, at 7.15. Every member is requested to attend. A meeting of tho Qommittee of the Wellington Rifle Association was held last evening, at the Volunteer Drillshed, Captain Kohn in the chair, at which the programme previously drafted for the forthcoming meeting, on the 21st and 23rd January, was finally adopted. The committee are using all their endeavonra to make the meeting a success. It is expected that there will be from 80 to 100 competitors, and the gathering should be the largest yet held under the auspices of the association.
