Wellington Cricket Club.

The annual meeting of the Wellington Cricket Club was held at tho Club Hotel last evening, Mr. W. H. Levin, President, in the chair. The annual report of the committee was read by Mr. Haigh, Hon. Secretary. It stated that from every point of view tho past season had been successful. In regard to the success of tho club in tho field, tho committee are sorry to soy that they are not able to give the usual details, owing .to'tyie ¥act that the statements made up by Mr. JBato hod'been }oit, and the soorebook is dJ^' nilsglng. They 1 , /ho'wever, give the'folloViW parfieujar^:— "Ebb nhmber of matches played by £jie ,blul^ wijs 2,ty,' : of which 11 wprp won ; 8 li}st, and 1 draw^! The firsjt eleveu won every ma^ob they played; thje secord a eleven won % matches and lost 5; tho third eleven made a draw of one match and lost 3. In Cup matches the first eleven played 4 matches, winning ajl of them, and they hold the Senior Cup for the season 1886-87. The feature of the - Phoenix match was the grand batting of Dr._ W. E. Collins. For the Junior Cup the second eleven, who won the cup in the previous year, were not bo successful, but this, the committee think, was attributable in a great measure to the way in which the eleven wore cut up to feed the first eleven. The third eleven played 4 matches, but failed to win one. The committee regret that no matches against outside clubs were played, and they hope that jn the coming season the visits paid to other oitieS' in 7 former years will be repeated. Turning to the Unanoial'aflfairs of the olub, tho report states that the serious debt referred to in tho lost annnal report no longer exists, as, when the value of material belonging to the olub is taken into consideration, a balance on the right side will be shown. The accounts for last season still unpaid amount to .£ls 18s 6d, against which there is a balance at the bank of £3 9s lOd, and subscriptions still unpaid £6 19s 6d. The value of material left from last season is £$\ 18s 6d, showing a balance 'in fayOu'r'bf the' club of iS26 9s 4d. In cpnclnßion, "£h*e eWitnitte^'sJate tjiafc the present financial ppsftiqn '§f fiho Club is nighjy satisfactory, ana it would '(do unnecessary to raaki a cgjl, 09 in former years'. They beg jo recommend %at the subscription, which was altered to £1 IDs, remain unaltered, They make this recommendation because in past seasons the pommitteo have found that the funds at thoir disposal were barely sufficient to supply the club with as good a stock of material as they could have wished. The balance-sheot was also read. Mr. N. W. Werry moved the adoption oj the report and balance-sheet. The resolution was seconded by Mr. Cookborn, and carried without discussion.
