This Dat. Mr. P. W. Barlow, of tho London Inst. C.E., is at present in Auokland oompiling information on behalf of that institution respecting the doaks, harbours, and chief industrial works. Dunedin, 9th Septomber. In tho Rcsidont Magistrate's Court the Magistrate gave judgment for J3lB against tho owner of a private siding, being tho value of ono of tho tram horses which had to be killed through injuries sustained by a collision with a truck which was crossing the tram lino. The Magistrate dooided that tile fwner of tho siding was liable bocauso ho know of th(* dangor of allowing work to bo performed by Wo horses without a brakosman. Grktmouth, Tills Dat. The Brunnor Company has exported 9000 tons coal in tho last four weokß. It is proposed to mako the Wallsend and Taylof wile footbridge all of iron if the ratepayers will agree to pay the extra cost.
