Another Biff Compensation Claim.
Messrs. Bell, Gully, & Izard, on behalf of Messrs. Luke & Sons, Te Aro Foundry, have served the City Council with a writ claiming .£26,500 as compensation for deprivation of foreshore rights. The schedule of claim is as follows :— (a) Loss of trade profits .(estimated at .£2OOO a-year, capitalised for, say, 10 years), £20,000; (b) filling-in of land, moving machinery and buildings, and loss and delay in removing same, £3000 ; (c) plant and machinery made useless by loss of water frontage, £1000 ; (d) in]ury to property by loss of access, &c, £2500— total, £26,500. Tho land said to be injuriously affected comprises sections 10 and 11, Te Aro Pah. A portion of the property is leased from natives, and tho freehold of the remaindor is owned by Mobsts. Luke & Sons.
