«, LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Ihe Colonial Secretary promised Dr. Menrie3 to consider the propriety of haying an index compiled of despatches between the Seoretary of State and the Governor from tho earliest dates. Both the resolutions of Sir Frederiok Whitaker and the Select Committee on the Hospitals and Charitable Aid Bill were negatived by 21 to 8. The Bill itself wa=i considered in committee. The Beoond reading of the Land Bill, moved by Mr. Wilson, elioited some discussion, several members objecting to the leasing and speoial settlement clauses. It was read a second time on the voices, and the Council roso at 11.5 p.m.
