On Saturday, the 21st inst., some very successful experiments were mode here, demonstrating the complete efficiency of the Harden Star Hand Grenades in extinguishing fire. Without going into detail, I may add that the Committee of the Asylum, in whose presence the experiments took place, were so satisfied of the value of the invention, that they ordered fifteen dozen of the Grenades for distribution throughout the Asylum. Dear Sir,— On February Ist our watohman discovered a fire at the back of onr boilers. When first he saw it the flames were about 6 feet high. He immediately used one of your Grenades, which checked the flames, but finding they were likely to break out again, he used another one, which completely put out the fire. The fire originated from some old bagging which had accumulated, and it is a very difficult matter to put that kind of fire out, as old bags in our place are always very oily.— Yours faithfully, Fosteb Bbos.
