DETERMINED SUICIDE.

« ANOTHER DEATH PROM "ROUGH ON RATS." At noon to-day tho discovery waa mado that a man had oommittod sui oide in Barrett' a . Hotel by taking a do»o of tho poison known as " Rough on Ruts." It nppo.«m that between 8 and 9 o'olook laat evening a man named Robert Sallows, well know to tho frequenters of the Empire Hotel, whero he bad been employed aa olerk, entered Barrett's Hotel and took a seat in the bar parlour. Ha seemed in good spirits, andapparently enjoyed himself during the time ho was in the room. After taking a drink with some persona in the room and eating a quantity of lolließ, with which hit pockets appeared to be filled, he asked for a bed, stating that he intended to go up to Feathoraton a the morning in order to sco a brother who, he stated, lives in that township. Tho bartender ahowod him to a room faoing the Atbencmim Hall, and left him there at about !> o'olook. Sallows did not appear at the breakfast table this morning, but the oiroumatanoe did not give rise to any surprise. When, however, it was fonnd that his room was still looked at 11.30 o'olook, suspicion began to be arousod, and aoting on the instruction of Mrs. Wakeford, tho barman (Kmil Hanson) forced tho door open, and waa horrified to find Sallow a lying doad on the floor. The dltiopvery was immediately roported to the polioo, and Deteotive-Inspeotor Browne and some constables wero soon on the spot. Deoeosed waa lying on his faoe, and waa attired in a nightshirt. On tho tablo were found an empty bottle of " Hough on Kats " and a tumbler, whioh had evidently been used to dissolve the poison. Tho bedolothes were turned down, and there was every appearance that tho bed had been oooupied. The body was quite oold when Hanson discovered it, and death apparently took placo some time during the night. The corpse was removed to the Morgue in Dixonstreet, where it will await an inquest. Deceased was a Bhort, thick-sot man about 35 years of ago, and for the past eleven weoks was employed as olerk in tho Empire Hotel. He was disohwged from Mr. Liohtiohiendl'e service yesterday morning on aooount of his 1 intemperate habits, and doubtless this is the reason why he took away his life. He waa a widower, and had no ohildren. That he was determined to do the rash deed effectually in evidenced by the fact that hs , swallowed snffioiont poison to kill three or four men. The polioe have ascertained thtit tho poison waa purohaßed by the deceased at Mr. Gordon's shop, in Willis-street, yesterday. Deoeasod told Mr. Gordon that no waa gointr up to Feathorsu>n to-day, and nqnired tho ' poison for use in that townnhiu.
